Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far.
I recently saw the movie Honest Thief starring Liam Neeson. I don’t think it’s one of his best but I did enjoy it and would recommend it for an easy watch. It got me thinking about how there will always be a market for movies that are easy to follow and are quite predictable. It reminded me of hallmark movies, how you can predict almost every scene and yet millions of people (including myself) are drawn to it and genuinely enjoy watching them. Basically, it shows that predictability is not always a bad thing. Some movies or books try too hard to focus on the shock factor. Five minutes in and you are exhausted and confused about the story plot.
I find it amazing when a story is told in such a brilliant way that it keeps its viewers entertained and interested all through. This is especially impressive when it’s a story that said viewer can predict so easily. It is somehow able to make them interested enough to exercise patience and see it play out for themselves. This was an easy watch but I would have loved to see what Liam Neeson’s character got in the end.
The movie wasn’t all great though. His reason for wanting to turn himself in was cute but I found it highly unrealistic. I also feel like they didn’t put much thought into the way in which he succeeded in carrying out his crimes. Security was too lax. I mean, the banks didn’t even have enough CCTV! What bank doesn’t have a camera facing their safe?!
The villain, Jai Courtney, was great! He definitely gave me the chills. He had that deathly look down! I think for me he stole the show. It’s great when there is a worthy or at least an adequately evil-looking bad guy. Yes, I did find the character a bit unhinged at times. At times he was just too overcome by greed that he wasn’t thinking his actions through properly. But I guess that’s what stealing can do to a person. It’s filmed well but it’s definitely not on the same level as Taken.
(P.S Liam Neeson’s voice though! Love it! so unique)
Well, that’s it from me today!
Thank you for spending time with me today and I hope you’ll be back here again next week Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week!
