Walk More

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far.

Have you read the guest post that went up on Friday? If you haven’t I highly suggest you do so. It made me more aware of how often I walk. It’s so easy to jump on a bus or a cab to wherever regardless of how close it is. And by close, I mean anything less than a 30 minute walk. There are many ways to keep exercising. I definitely used to be one of those people that spend five days a week in the gym. I do love it, but the corona era makes you realise that there is more you can do outside the gym. Plus not having a gym membership is a great way to save money.

I find walking great especially because I can listen to an audiobook or podcast or even some music while I walk. Or I can stay tuned into nature and just listen to the birds and cars passing by. It also makes you feel energised when you move your body. I think it even makes you happier somehow. I guess a way to show gratitude for your ability to walk and run and move is to actually do those things. The number of audiobooks I have listened to when I go for a walk is ridiculous. Hence it gives me that extra incentive to do it. And I also liked the fact that she (my guest last Friday) touched on the fact that you could do more harm to your body than good when you go to the gym and lift random weights.

The whole mindset shift towards doing more natural practical ways of achieving the same thing is definitely something I think we need. So instead of running on a treadmill, you could just run outside. I am also a fan of walkout videos on YouTube. Some of them are as short as 10 minutes and it just makes me feel great that I’m moving my body. With a 10 minute workout, you can do maybe three at separate times in a day. It accumulates into a proper workout session. Going back to the happiness factor I don’t know if this happens to everyone but when I sweat or I exercise intentionally I definitely feel better and happier. I even find that I’m more productive. My mind is clearer, more active, alert, and ready to work.

Whenever I feel stuck and really don’t want to work I find that taking some time to maybe do a walkout really does fire my creative juices up. Doing an online workout session is great for when the weather is really bad. I don’t know how people do it but I’m not about to have a leisurely stroll or even a run when it’s raining outside. I just think it’s a nice recipe for getting the flu and/or maybe a nasty fall. I have to admit that I do feel a tiny bit silly doing a walk-out in the living room. I just feel like if anyone sees me they would be like ‘how old are you? why are you doing this? you should be out there running or doing something way more active’. But I think doing something less active is better than doing nothing at all. It would affect you emotionally and physically if you are not active.

Please let me know if you are also a fan of walkout videos or if you are a strictly walk-outside-or-nothing kind of person.

P.s. If you are at all interested in being a guest on my blog please send me a message on my Instagram page. You can simply let me know what topic you are interested in writing about and why. I am open to a wide range of topics and looking forward to having more conversations on here.

Thank you for spending time with me today and I hope you’ll be back here again next week Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week!
