Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. I love books or movies with this at the heart of its theme. The protagonist sometimes gets a second chance to live, and filled with gratitude, they know how to do it right. To really and truly treasure the gift that is life. These stories always serve as a nice reminder to cherish the limited time we have on this earth. It’s very easy to stress out over things, and then a couple of years later you look back and almost want to shake your past self to get a grip. I constantly do that. I look back on times that I thought I was experiencing things that were absolutely horrendous, but now with hindsight, I know I was just stressing over nothing.
The weather all through last week was dreadful; non-stop rain and grey sky. This week, however, has been non-stop sunshine and amazing blue skies! life can change just like that! taking in every step and seeing the beauty in it is necessary. This way you are not just waiting to be happy later. When it’s raining a lot I love looking out and having the windows open so I can breathe it in. And we all know there’s nothing better than curling up in a cozy corner reading a book with the soothing sound of rain as your background music.
I recently watched the 2011 movie Source Code starring Jake Gyllenhaal and it was great to be reminded to not sweat the small stuff. To look at whatever problem I may be going through right now and console myself with the fact that nothing lasts forever. And that there is sunshine and laughter at the end of the tunnel. I like to take a few moments a week to really take a deep breath and be aware of my many blessings. Life, Love, Family, Safety, Health, Food, and Shelter are all amazing blessings that I have to admit I sometimes take for granted.
To someone out there needing a reminder, here you are. You will be fine. Maybe not right this minute or even a week from now, but time flies so fast and the hard bit will be over before you know it. All you have to remember is to try to be grateful for the time you have on earth. As morbid as it sounds, life is not forever. Soon everyone’s time on earth ends. So the least you can do is use this time well. Try to be happy. Try to work on things that give you joy. Try to spend time with people that make you feel lighter. And try try try as much as you can to not sweat the small stuff.
(P.S as much as I love hiding under my jackets, I am super grateful for the season of bright summer dresses!)
Thank you for spending time with me today and I hope you’ll be back here again next week Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week!
