Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far.
I recently saw the 2016 movie Allied. Finally. It stars the very talented Marion Cotillard, whom I absolutely LOVE. She is one of my favorite actresses, and I know whatever she is in would be great. She proved me right. I mean wow. Although the movie was very predictable it was thoroughly entertaining and I enjoyed every moment of it. It shows a love story between two spies during World War II. It was well told and beautifully filmed.
The movie made me very grateful for the time I live in. With bombs flying everywhere and people getting shot like it was some video game, it was definitely humbling. Seeing lives being wasted so carelessly and knowing that this was what the world was like. And indeed unfortunately it is still the reality of some people in some parts of the world today. It makes me super grateful, even if we are currently still sort of riding the corona wave. It just puts things in perspective. There was a scene where Marion Cotillard’s character was giving birth and I thought SHIT! I saw some interviews about people that gave birth during the peak of the coronavirus, and it is obviously nothing compared to giving birth during an actual war!
Marianne and Max fell in love after going through a very risky mission. I think the high of coming out of it alive amplified their feelings for one and other. I kept thinking it was like a more loving version of Mr and Mrs Smith. Although I knew how it would end, I still felt so sad for the characters, and up until the big reveal, I was desperately hoping that it wouldn’t be what I thought it was. But yeah, I was devastated when it turns out all I thought would happen did happen. I loved how the story drew me in and made me completely and utterly invested.
Watching stuff about war is always so hard. Knowing that people lived through this, and even worse, that people’s lives were just needlessly snatched away. It’s really sad what humanity can do to itself. I know this sounds very cliche (and that’s because it is) but love is all we need. As boring as everyone loving and respecting each other is, that is what the world needs. Let’s leave the crazy drama for the movies and books, and just show each other love and respect.
On another note, the love scene was cool with the sand and all but I just kept thinking, how would they be able to drive away from that? Surely they would have been sanded in. If you haven’t seen it yet I definitely would recommend this movie. I honestly would probably see it again just to examine the story structure and scenes a bit more.
P.s. the trailer basically shows the entire movie LOL (so happy I didn’t see it till after watching the movie). Brad Pit seems to love his WWII movies.
P.p.s. I know that my featured image has nothing to do with the post, but I thought to do another #drawthisinyourstyle challenge.
Thank you for spending time with me today and I hope you’ll be back here again next week Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week!
